Posted 25 October Abbi Knowles

With Halloween less than a week away, you will start to notice there are two attitudes that become apparent. There are those that detest the idea of Halloween and see it only as a marketing gimmick and those that start planning next year’s activities and outfit by the 1st November.

This blog captures a selection of great marketing activities, campaigns and products from around the world that highlights the tastes and imagination of the season, no matter your actual opinion on Halloween itself.

So Real, It’s Scary – LG

What better way to showcase amazing technology than by scaring people in a lift! In 2012 this concept was created as a showcase opportunity and to let the tech sell itself in a completely unique way. With the crisp, high definition screens placed on the floor of a lift, the lifelike colours were able to prove themselves through this video and created over 24 million views – and there isn’t a zombie in sight.

The Shining – IKEA

IKEA Singapore produced an excellent Halloween campaign in 2014 that was able to reaffirm our fears from when we first watched The Shining.

Spooky Car Wash Prank – Ford

In 2014, Ford decided to play a prank on unsuspecting customers at a local car wash. The idea was simple and gained a fantastic response rate with over 1.7million views.

Starbucks – Pumpkin Spice Latte

If you haven’t heard of a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, then you need to get yourself to a Starbucks immediately. The seasonal drink was created at Starbucks HQ in Seattle in 2003 and has gone from strength to strength with what could be considered as a cult following. It even has its own hashtag #PSL. This is a must have, with or without a love for Halloween.
