Children In Need 2018

It’s that time of year again, Celestra does Children in Need! This year however, we thought we’d do it a little different and have the fundraising spread over 5 weeks rather than just one week. To try and raise more money and so that all the staff weren’t overwhelmed by the masses of cakes and food up for sale in the office!

The Great Celestra Bake off

Over the last 5 weeks we have been holding a weekly bake off challenge with just one rule, no packet-mix allowed! Each week the contestants would put their offerings in front of a strict judging team who know their soggy bottoms from their stiff peaks. The offerings were then sold to support the cause, from tray bakes, cupcakes through to the show stopper finale, we had five worthy winners who each took home one of the coveted Celestra Star Baker Aprons. Well done to the winners, those who participated and of course those who bought and ate cake!

Pop Up Food Shop!

As well a cake galore every week, we also organised some pop-up food stalls to feed the hungry Celestra crew. From the famous Celestra Curry Week through to a Pull Off Week, where all the meats were slow cooked, shredded and put in a roll (or a barm for our northern folk!).

We even had our Directors cooking up a storm at the annual Directors BBQ cooking sausages and burgers donated to us by The Best Butchers in Great Brickhill. Finally, Krispy Kreme doughnuts were on sale in the office! Calories don’t count when the profits go to charity, right? Thank you to all our cooks and servers for all your help and for making these events a success, it’s fair to say we definitely don’t let our staff go hungry!

Get Your Own Back!

Get your own back!! An office favourite, it says it in the name! A chance for our staff members to get their own back and gunge a fellow team member. It works by donating a £1 per vote the unlucky top 4 with the most votes get gunged on Children in Need day. The voting was over 5 weeks and each week the leader board changed keeping everyone in the office on their best behaviour to avoid the dreaded slime. Annalisa and Elena were unfortunate,  with just minutes to spare an additional £200 was put on them to be gunged meaning they joined our other unlucky staff members; Simon, Lauren, Laura and Aaron.

Luau Party

This year the theme of our Children in Need day was Hawaiian Luau Party, luckily no one was seen in the office wearing a coconut bra but there were a few wacky shirts, grass skirts and Hawaiian Lei. We had various activities throughout the day, these included; human hungry hippos, feeding frenzie, rock ‘n’ roll bingo, boiler bounce, VR experience, jail break for our senior staff members and an online auction with some amazing items up for grabs (check out our Facebook page for videos).

We also, had a Tiki bar serving non-alcoholic beverages and Dominos Pizza for all the staff to enjoy. Ending the day with the raffle being drawn, we would like to thank our partners who donated, especially CCS, CDW, Expose Media, Ideal Personnel and Comms Group, our winners were delighted with their prizes! The day was hugely enjoyed by the whole team and atmosphere was electric around the office- nothing quite beats the atmosphere of Children in Need.


Celestra was able to raise an incredible £4,464 smashing our target of £3,500. A big well done to everyone for their efforts and donations from our sponsors. Thank you to all the team for being good sports and helping us raise the money, it wouldn’t have been possible without you!
